Shortly after I started crocheting I decided I would make blankets for the beds in our house, the good news is we only have 2 beds in the house. I am not really sure why I thought this was a good idea because I was not ready for a project of this size yet, but this is me and I was determined that I could make this work and I did.
The good news was Mom did choose a blanket yarn (unlike me who thought I could make my blanket out of a much thinner yarn and just going to say it, my blanket is still undone and I have decided to take it apart and move on to plan b). So we were off to a good start, we had the yarn.
Next she needed to choose a pattern, I will admit I thought her choosing a yarn would be the hard part but oh was I wrong, the pattern was the hard part. I have no clue how many patterns we looked at, it literally took weeks to find a pattern but finally one was found, the pattern she choose can be found Here.
This project took me forever to complete, it was so large and bulky it could not travel with me I had to work on it when I was at home and even that was tricky. It got to the point where myself and the blanket no longer fit in my chair at the same time so when I wanted to work on it I had to take to my room which meant no watching TV well I worked. Normally my crochet time is my me time to unwind and watch TV so with no TV I would not work very long. Honestly I have no clue in the long run how long it took to complete this blanket but it felt like forever. Maybe just maybe I took on a large project a little too early. Now it would take me no time at all to make this blanket.
I am happy with how it turned out and so is Mom even though I completed it at Christmas time when I was off work and she did not use it at all last winter. The pattern was easy to work with and did work up quite quickly once I got the hang of it. I look forward to working on more blankets and trying other patterns and maybe just maybe writing a couple of my own.
